Lesley Rees

Professor Lesley Rees has been a Consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children for 30 years. She is also Professor of Paediatric Nephrology at The Institute of Child Health, University College London.

Professor Rees’ particular clinical skills lie in managing the common complications of dialysis in children, namely: poor nutrition and growth, and chronic kidney disease mineral and bone disorder.  She has also undertaken considerable research in these areas. In 2016 she was awarded the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ from the International Pediatric Nephrology Association.

Professor Rees has written over 200 original papers and reviews. She is Senior Editor of the popular ‘Handbook of Paediatric Nephrology’ which is endorsed by the IPNA and is used worldwide. She is co-editor of the journal ‘Pediatric Nephrology’. This means that she has the ability to improve the knowledge of staff around the world caring for children with kidney disease and to positively influence the physical and social outcomes of children with kidney disease.
