The Center for Rare Renal Diseases at the Hospital of the Vanvitelli University (Naples) is composed by the Adult Nephrology-Dialysis Unit and the Pediatric Nephrology Unit of the Department of Pediatrics. It serves a large population of about 7 million of people of Campania and surrounding regions. It provides assistance for patients with chronic renal diseases with a particular expertise for renal rare diseases. Particularly, we take care of 300 patients affected by CAKUT syndrome. The clinical service is enriched by the possibilities to perform physiological tests to characterize and phenotype the tubular defects. In addition we perform the genetic test (NGS) to identify most of the recognized renal genetic diseases. Our center is characterized by the continuity of care in the transition from pediatric to adults. Together with the clinical activity, several research programs and clinical trials are performed. |
