Description |
The department of Pediatric Nephrology of the Beatrix Children’s Hospital in the University Medical Center Groningen provides a high standard of care for children with a variety of congenital, inherited and acquired renal disorders, in close collaboration with the department of adult nephrology and clinical genetics. Besides a large outpatient clinic, there is a large PICU and NICU where CKRT is performed in addition to extracorporeal life support (ECLS). On top of that, we are the only hospital in The Netherlands that performs extracorporeal renal and liver support for acute liver failure in children. There is a close collaboration with the department of Pediatric Urology, where complex surgical procedures are performed in children with congenital abnormalities of the kidneys and urinary tract (CAKUT) and bladder disorders. We provide highly qualified care for children of all ages up until adulthood, including an antenatal clinic. Patients and their parents are supported by a multidisciplinary team including the care of a pediatric renal dietician, nurse specialist, social worker and pediatric psychologist. | ||||||||||
