The 12 de Octubre University Hospital in Madrid is a tertiary center with a high level of specialization that meets all the necessary requirements to participate in the ERKNet network. It was designated as a national reference center for complex glomerular diseases, including rare glomerulopathies and immune-mediated glomerular diseases, which constitute one of the objectives of the ERKNet. The Hospital has an extensive experience and is a national and international reference center in the field of thrombotic microangiopathies, tubulopathies and tubulointerstitial disorders, metabolic-based renal diseases, hereditary renal disorders, renal malformations and pediatric chronic kidney disease. To develop this activity, the Hospital has all the necessary human resources: Adult Nephrology and Pediatric Nephrology Divisions, with a high level of expertise and proven track record in the care of patients of high complexity, high-rank publications in nephrological and urological journals.The Immunology and Genetic Divisions have all the technical capabilities for studies of maximum complexity and diagnosis of hereditary and genetic diseases. It should be noted that all the aforementioned equipment is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which allows uninterrupted patient care. The Paediatric Nephrology service has a transition pathway from paediatric to adult patients, with collaborative work between adult and paediatric nephrologists. As a University Hospital, Hospital 12 de Octubre offers grade and postgraduate teaching, with numerous academical activities and exchange programs linked to other national and European centers.
