Johann Morelle, MD, PhD, is physician-scientist in the Division of Nephrology at the Saint-Luc Academic Hospital and Professor of Medicine and Nephrology at UCLouvain, Brussels, Belgium.
His areas of clinical expertise include immune-mediated kidney diseases (i.e. glomerular diseases and thrombotic microangiopathies/hemolytic uremic syndrome), chronic kidney disease, and home dialysis techniques.
Johann Morelle has also developed expertise in translational research at the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Research at UCLouvain. Using a multidisciplinary approach including studies on patients, mouse and cellular models, and human and mouse genetics, the group investigates molecular and genetic mechanisms underlying kidney diseases and the pathophysiology of peritoneal transport.
He is board member of the Belgian working group for atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome, board member of the Education Committee of the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis, board member of the transdisciplinary Louvain4Water consortium, and member of the European Reference Network for Rare Kidney Diseases.
