Dr. Pedro Arango Sancho

Dr. Arango Sancho is professor of paediatrics at the University of Barcelona and Pompeu Fabra University and Paediatric Nephrologist and Head of Teaching and Research in the Nephrology Service of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona, Spain.
He graduated in Medicine from the University of Cadiz in 2011, carrying out his specialization in paediatrics at the Complejo Hospitalario Nª Señora de la Candelaria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Spain) from 2012 to 2016. Subsequently, he trained in paediatric nephrology under the tutelage of Dr. Victor García Nieto in several university hospitals in Spain (Hospital Virgen del Rocío in Seville, Hospital La Paz in Madrid and Hospital Son Espases in Mallorca), obtaining the Master in Paediatric Nephrology from the University of Barcelona and thus becoming a specialist in 2017, with special interest in the field of hereditary renal diseases, tubulopathies, lithiasis, arterial hypertension and onco-nephrology. Since then he has been working at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona.
Dr. Arango has numerous publications on paediatric nephrology and is the author of numerous oral and poster presentations on this speciality for national and international meetings. He is the author of more than a dozen chapters of national and international books and winner of 15 national awards in the field of research and child nephrology, participating as principal investigator in several clinical trials in the field of tubulopathies.
Of particular note is his involvement in the field of onco-nephrology, founding the first Integrated Functional Unit of Onco-Nephrology in Spain in 2017 in association with the Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona (PCCB) and currently participating in several working groups related to this field.
Since 2020 he has been involved in teaching and coordinating the Master in Paediatric Nephrology at the University of Barcelona. He is local coordinator of the fellowship and sister program of the International Pediatric Nephrology Association and head of teaching and research at the nephrology department of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu since 2023.
