Dr. Silvia Deaglio is Associate Professor of Medical Genetics at University of Turin and Director of the Biobank of the Department of Medical Sciences. She received her M.D. in 1998 and finished her Ph.D. in Genetics at the University of Turin in 2006. She performed research scholarships at Essen University and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Harvard University. She was principal investigator of the Immunogenetics Unit of the Italian Institute for Genomic Medicine and Visiting Associate Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College from 2014 to 2016.
Since 2016 she joined the Immunogenetics and Transplant Biology Unit of AOU Città della Salute e della Scienza of Turin, with the aim of setting up a diagnostic platform to provide genetic diagnosis and counseling to patients in need of organ transplant with a suspected underlying monogenic disease and to patients with HLA-associated diseases. Her research activities have become increasingly focused on understanding genotype-phenotype relationships. She is also involved in genetic typing and cross-matching for organ donors and in providing counseling for patients with HLA-associated diseases.
Dr. Deaglio is member of multiple professional boards including the American Association for Cancer Research, American Association of Immunologists, Italian Society for Experimental Hematology, American Association of Hematologists, European Research Initiative on CLL (ERIC), Henry Kunkel Society, European Federation of Immunogenetics (EFI) and the Italian Society of Human Genetics (SIGU).
Dr. Deaglio’s publication record encompasses 180 scientific articles and book chapters. With more than 10,500 citations to date, her current H-Index is 55. Dr. Deaglio is also member of the editorial board for several journals, including the Frontiers in Immunology, Blood, Cancers, Current Signal Transduction Therapy, American Journal of Cancer Research, Journal of Cancer Therapeutics and Research, World Journal of Translational Medicine, World Journal of Biological Chemistry, International Journal of Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy and the Journal of Immunology and Immunotherapy.
