C3 glomerulonephritis is a rare form of glomerulonephritis characterized by the abnormal activation of the complement system, particularly the alternative pathway in thefluid phase. This leads to dominant excessive deposition of C3 protein in the glomeruli, causing inflammation and damage to the kidneys.
