Description

The division of paediatric nephrology, dialysis and elimination methods provides comprehensive diagnosis, care and treatment of children with kidney disease and urinary tract infections, provides solutions of problems in patients with acute renal failure, chronic renal failure and chronic kidney disease, including kidney transplantation.
The department provides care for children from all over the Czech Republic. The dialysis center is equipped with modern devices modern for intermittent and continuous elimination methods, plasmapheresis, immunoabsorption, devices for home peritoneal dialysis.
Besides classical nephrology, the team addresses the problems of hypertension in children, polycystic kidney disease, familial nephropathy, nephrotic syndrome and thrombotic microangiopathies.
The nephrology team carries out a number of funded research projects. The department is involved in international studies that test the effectiveness of immunosuppressive therapy and the effect of hypertension on the progression of renal impairment,as well as research on thrombotic microangiopathies.
