Department of Pediatrics, Immunology and Nephrology is located in the Polish Mother's Memorial Hospital Research Instute - the biggest centre in Poland taking care for gynecology, pregnancy, neonatology and pediatric diseases together in one unique location. The Instiute has longterm experience (since 1980) in prenatal and postnatal care of children with rare diseases with the availability of prenatal and postnatal diagnosis and interventions in selected problem. We take care of children untill their adolescence but we are able to support them longer due to development of transition programmes. Department of Pediatrics, Immunology and Nephrology has a potential of 6 full term pediatric nephrologists, 12 pediatricians, 3 clinical immunologists and 3 pediatric cardiologist working together with specialistic departments of the institute (urology, prenatal cardiology, neonatology, intensive care, neurosurgery, pediatric cardiac surgery, neurology) and related outpatients units. The diagnostic potential is supported by experienced radiology department, clinical genetic depatment and patomorphology department. We are active members of European Initiatives in the Rare Diseases in the Nephrology and Immunology with strong research potential of 4 full term medical scientists with the position of Professor and Adiunct and supporting staff. The departmet serves as s reference tertiary centre in pediatric nephrology and immunology with 24/7 service of nephrology department and dialysis unit for children and adolescents. Our department actively participates in the education of medical students and other health professional (nurses, ER specialists, physicians) on regular basis with a contract with Medical University of Lodz and Minstry of Health. We have a vast experience in research (multicentre) and clinical trials in chronic kidney disease complication, glomerulopathies, congenital malformations of urirnary tract and pediatric dialysis. Marcin Tkaczyk is a current (2018-2024) President of Polish Society for Pediatric Nephrology. Department of Pediatrics, Immunology and Nephrology has a transition programme for pediatric patients with rare kidney diseases and joined care for families with these entities. We take care of the patiens untill they are ready to be transferedf to adlut nephrologist. |
