Department of Paediatric Nephrology and Hypertension Jagiellonian University Medical College, which came into existence in 1965, is a part of University Children’s Hospital of Kraków and it covers 1/ an 18 - bed ward for children between 2 months to 18 years of age; 2/ Dialysis Unit with 4 haemodialysis and 2 peritoneal dialysis posts and 3/outpatient clinic where approximately 100 children weekly receive nephrological consultations. Department also disposes of three ultrasound and one uroflowmetry appliances. The Clinic is a reference paediatric nephrology centre for all of the south-east Poland area. The experienced clinical medical team is composed of 10 paediatric specialists (8 of whom have completed a specialisation in paediatric nephrology, and 1 is still in active training), and 3 junior clinicians in the field of paediatric nephrology. Furthermore, 2 doctors are specialists in paediatric hypertension. The Paediatric Nephrology Department enables executing a complete kidney diseases diagnostics including diagnostics of hypertension based on up-to-date image and laboratory endowment. Moreover the Clinic’s specialists take an active part in running continuous renal replacement therapy, plasmapheresis and hemoperfusion in three intensive care units (paediatric, cardiosurgical and neonatal) functioning in the Hospital. The Department is also very active in a didactic scope running lectures, bedside classes and ERASMUS exchange programmes for students. Moreover the staff members are active participants of domestic and international nephrological conferences, clinical studies and researches. | ||||||
