Description

The pediatric department within Radboud UMC Expertise Center on Renal Disorders provides excellent and highly qualified patient care in a sustainable network covering the entire eastern part of the Netherlands with a population of approximately six million people. The Radboudumc has a shared care arrangement with the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) as well as the Maastricht University Medical Center (MUMC), in which Radboudumc acts as the center of expertise for pediatric dialysis and kidney transplantation. Radboudumc is an international referral center for rare renal disorders and complement-mediated diseases (for research, diagnosis and treatment of adults as well as children).
Research conducted by the Department of Pediatric Nephrology focuses primarily on glomerular diseases, especially on complement-mediated diseases and nephrotic syndrome, and specific genetic kidney diseases, like ciliopathies, tubulopathies, and cystinosis and is embedded in the research theme ‘Kidney diseases’ of RIMLS (see www.rimls.nl).
