Description

The Department of Nephrology and Transplantation of the University Hospital of Toulouse has an encatchment of 2-3 millions of persons (17.000 outpatients contact per year and 1500 hospitalizations). The center for rare renal disease (SORARE) has a special clinical focus on (1) inherited renal disease (especially, cystic kidney diseases (ADPKD, ARPKD, HNF1B-related disease) and CAKUT) and (2) immune glomerulonephritis and thrombotic microangiopathy. Also, all the acute and chronic renal replacement therapies are available in our center (intermittent and continuous dialysis, plasma exchanges, immune-adsorption, cascade filtration) and a medical intensive care unit is included in our Department. Our group is composed of nephrologists, immunologists, intensivists, and psychologists and regular staffs with medical geneticists are organized. In addition, we developed a program of clinical and experimental research in the field of HNF1B-related nephropathy, CAKUT and renal fibrosis, in collaboration with the J. Schanstra' lab from the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (Institut des Maladies Métaboliques et Cardiovasculaires, U1048, Toulouse). Last, we conducted and participated to several investigator and industry-driven clinical trials.
