Description

The Pediatric Nephrology and Urology Department of the Emma Children's Hospital, AMC, provides excellent and highly qualified patient care for children with renal and urological diseases and is one of the three pediatric dialysis and transplantation centers in the Netherlands. For the purpose of the alliance between the AMC and VUMC in Amsterdam, both pediatric nephrology departments have an intensified collaboration and will fuse in the near future. The unit has a shared care arrangement with the pediatric urology department of the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital, Utrecht. Together with the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics a multidisciplinary prenatal and postnatal care of renal malformations is provided. The department is expertise center for pediatric dialysis, kidney transplantation, nephrotic syndrome, hyperoxaluria and obstructive uropathy. Research is focused on pediatric dialysis and kidney transplantation,(LDL) apheresis, epidemiology, nephrotic syndrome/glomerulopathy, hyperoxaluria and obstructive uropathy.
