Department of Nephrology and Hypertension

The Department of Nephrology and Hypertension is one of the largest centers for rare kidney diseases in adults in Germany. We offer a wide variety of consulting services, e. g. in glomerulonephritis, cystic kidney diseases and hypertension. We provide the full spectrum of acute renal replacement therapies with more than 10000 inpatient treatments per year. Our research activities include clinical and experimental research in rare kidney diseases and rare systemic diseases that affect the kidney. We lead research studies in kidney transplantation, chronic kidney disease and acute kidney injury, autoimmune kidney diseases, hypertensive diseases, including several investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical trials.
