Description |
One of the Germany's largest pediatric nephrology centers, the Department of Pediatric Nephrology at UKE looks after a population of over 4 millions in the north of Germany and more than 4000 outpatient contacts and 300 hospitalizations per year. Our multidisciplinary team offers full medical and psychosocial services for children of all ages, including a prenatal consultation clinic. Our group has a special clinical focus on pediatric chronic and end-stage renal disease, treating more than 300 children in the pre-dialysis stage, on dialysis and after kidney transplantation in our state of the art facilities. We provide the full spectrum of acute renal replacement therapies from neonatal to adolescent age, including a service for renal transplantation (combined liver-kidney transplantation, ABO incompatible and highly sensitized patient). Together with the Department of Pediatric Hepatology, we are the largest pediatric transplantation unit in Germany with over 45 solid organ transplantation each year in children. We have a large population of children undergoing both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. We hold specialist clinics in dialysis, transplantation, acute kidney injury, hypertension, metabolic disease, renal stone disease and antenatal nephrology. Our group leads patient registries and cohort studies in genetic kidney disease, transplantation, and participates in multiple international investigator and industry driven clinical trials. Together with our colleagues of the Department of Nephrology, the Medical Center of the University of Hamburg is one of the top nephrology centers in Germany. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
