Description |
The Department II of Internal Medicine (Nephrology, Rheumatology, Diabetology and General Internal Medicine) provides one of the largest service units for rare kidney diseases in Germany. With a catchment area populated by more than 4 million people we have more than 6000 nephrological outpatient contacts and 900 hospitalizations per year. Our multidisciplinary team offers full medical and psychosocial services. Our center has a special focus on genetic kidney disease in adult patients. Consequently, we see around 500 patients per year suffering from rare and genetic diseases. The clinical service is complemented by a wide range of research activities, which include genetic and experimental research in a dedicated laboratory as well as the participation in and coordination of national and international clinical trials. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
