Financial Support for Rare Kidney Disease Conferences

ERKNet offers financial support for workshops, conferences, or expert meetings organized by ERKNet collaborators


Objective

In line with the mission of the European Rare Kidney Disease Reference Networks (ERKNet), this initiative aims to foster cross-border collaboration, enhance knowledge exchange, and promote excellence in education and clinical care for rare kidney diseases. By supporting ERKNet Healthcare Providers (HCPs) in organizing national or international conferences, workshops, or meetings, the goal is to strengthen the ERKNet community and advance high-quality, patient-centered care, research, and innovation in the field of rare kidney conditions.

Who can Apply

Due to EU regulations and funding rules, we are only permitted to provide financial support event organized by  ERKNet-affiliated institutions (Full member HCPs, Affiliated Partners and ePAG). Applications from individuals or non-member organizations cannot be considered.

Funding range: up to €6,000, depending on the event’s scope and the total number of applications received.

Please note: ERKNet can only cover costs via direct invoicing to the service providers (e.g., venue, catering, or other services). Reimbursement of expenses incurred by HCPs or patient organizations is not possible. The event must take place in an EU country.  In addition, the maximum amount per single invoice is 5,000 euro including VAT; otherwise, the payment cannot be processed


Eligibility & Meeting Requirements

To be considered for support, proposed events must fulfill the following criteria:

Organizing Body

  • The meeting must be organized or co-organized by an ERKNet member HCP or ePAG.

Relevance to Rare Kidney Diseases

  • The event’s primary focus must be on rare kidney diseases, including clinical care, diagnostics, research, patient management, or health policy.

Scientific and Educational Value

  • The program must:
    • Reflect current scientific and clinical knowledge
    • Be relevant for professionals such as nephrologists, pediatric nephrologists, geneticists, and related experts

Program Content

  • Topics should directly relate to clinical care, research, diagnostics, patient management, or health policy
  • Include speaker(s) from the ERKNet community
  • Be accessible in a language suitable for an international audience

All applications will be carefully reviewed to assess eligibility based on: .

  • Scientific merit and alignment with ERKNet’s mission
  • Educational relevance
  • Inclusiveness and accessibility
  • Feasibility and quality of the proposed event

If eligible, your proposal will be forwarded to the ERKNet Executive Committee (ExCom) for evaluation and approval.
