Josep-Vicent Torregrosa was born in Cocentaina (Alicante, Spain). He studied Medicine at the University of Valencia, where he specialized in Nephrology. In 1991, he joined the Nephrology and Kidney Transplant Service at the Hospital Clínic of the University of Barcelona.
He completed training stays at the Kidney Transplant Department of Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami during 1996 and at the Nephrology Service of the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in 1999, both in the USA.
He holds a Master’s degree in Lysosomal Diseases and a university expert degree in Fabry Disease from the University of Alcalá de Henares.
He is an associate professor of medicine at the University of Barcelona. He is a professor in the Master’s program in Donation and Transplantation at the University of Barcelona and in the Master’s program in Hemodialysis at the Complutense University of Madrid.
He is the author of several books and more than 30 book chapters and monographs, mainly in the area of bone-mineral metabolism in chronic kidney disease and Fabry disease. He has authored over 200 publications in international journals.
Coordinator of the interdisciplinary group managing Fabry disease at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona. Coordinator of the Spanish guidelines for CKD-MBD.
Creator, director, and presenter of the weekly nephrology outreach program “Wednesdays with Torre & Friends” from 2020 to 2023.
Creator, director, and presenter of the biweekly nephrology outreach program “Nefrolateshow with Torre,” from 2024 to the present.
His areas of interest include kidney transplantation, metabolic bone diseases, and lysosomal diseases, primarily Fabry disease
