Paediatric urologist/surgeon

Graduated from Kaunas Medical Academy in 1992. Fellowship and doctoral studies in the Department of Paediatric Surgery, Göteborg University Children Hospital, Sweden in 1997 and 1999. Doctoral thesis defended in 2000.

2004-2006 Fellowship in the Departments of Paediatric Surgery, “Necker” and “Robert Debré” University Children Hospitals, Paris, France. Observerships in USA, Australia, United Kingdom, Denmark, Poland. Co-authored more than 20 publications in the Web of Science medical journals. Research group coordinator in the Project supported by the Research Council of Lithuania (European Social Fund, Global Grant Measure): Diagnosis and treatment of infertility risk in boys with cryptorchidism. Principal investigator in four accomplished phase III-IV clinical trials.

Coordinator of the eUROGEN rare disease reference centre, Vilnius University Hospital SK, specialising in paediatric urological laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery, bladder exstrophy, obstructive uropathies, cryptorchidism, neurogenic bladder dysfunction and continent diversion, disorders of sexual development, hypospadias.

Chief of the Department of Paediatric Urology since 2009, Assoc. Prof. in the Medical Faculty of Vilnius University, Head of the Centre of Children’s Surgery, Orthopaedics and Traumatology since 2018.
