Dr. Montserrat Díaz is an Assistant Physician and Coordinator of the Section of Glomerular and Autoimmune Diseases with Renal Involvement of the Nephrology Department. She has a degree in General Medicine and Surgery from the Faculty of Medicine of the Central University of the East of the Dominican Republic and a specialist in Nephrology from the Puigvert Foundation (1993-1997). She holds a PhD in Medicine from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), with "laude" mention. Research Fellow in Physiology and Biophysics at Mayo College of Medicine Rochester MN USA 2001-2003 and Senior Researcher in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the same Mayo College of Medicine Rochester MN USA 2001-2003 . At the research level, he studies chronic nephropathy: the mechanisms of inflammation-related fibrosis, at a basic level, as well as in kidney donors and transplant recipients. She is the author and co-author of several publications, in international and national nephrology journals and book chapters. In addition, he has presented communications at several international conferences.
