Fabian Baalmann

Fabian Baalmann studied medicine at the University of Leipzig (2013–2021) and received a medical license from the State Chamber of Physicians of Saxony in 2021. He completed a doctorate at the Rudolf Schönheimer Institute of Biochemistry in 2024 with a thesis on “Die Untersuchung der physiologischen Funktion des UDP-Glukose-Rezeptors P2Y14 in der Niere” (supervisor: Prof. Dr. Torsten Schöneberg).

Since 2021, Fabian Baalmann has been a resident physician in the Division of Nephrology at the University of Leipzig Medical Center and, since 2023, part of the Nephrogenetics Lab (Friederike Petzold). In 2024, he joined the “NephroFuture” mentoring program (German Society of Nephrology, mentor: Prof. Dr. Adrian Schreiber, Charité Berlin) and, since 2025, participates in the ERKNet Postgraduate Curriculum in Rare Kidney Diseases.

Key qualifications include basic and advanced laboratory animal science courses (2016–2017) and GCP basic training (2023, EU-VO 536/2014).
