She is currently a Nephrology Consultant at CHUdSA, where she works in the Peritoneal Dialysis Unit, Advanced Kidney Care, General Nephrology, and Kidney Transplant programs (since 2022). In July 2023, she became the National Representative of Portugal in the Young Nephrologist Platform of the European Renal Association (ERA), and in July 2025, she was appointed as a Board Member of the same platform.
She graduated with a Master’s degree in Medicine from Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar (ICBAS), University of Porto, in 2015, with a final classification of 17/20 (Level A). Her master’s thesis focused on “Can cerebral oxygenation reflect blood loss? A case series in total hip replacement surgery.” As part of her studies, she completed Erasmus exchanges in Milan (Università degli Studi di Milano – Ospedale San Paolo, 2013–2014) and Madrid (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid – Hospital Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda, 2014). She went on to complete postgraduate courses in Nephrology I (2017–2018) and Nephrology II (2018–2019) at ICBAS and obtained the European Certificate in Nephrology in February 2022.
Her clinical training began with a General Residency at CHUdSA in 2016, followed by a Nephrology Residency from 2017 to 2021, in which she graduated with a final classification of 19.83/20. In 2021, she completed a clinical fellowship in Renal Transplantation at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden.
Alongside her clinical activity, she has been an Assistant in practical classes of Semiology for 3rd-year medical students at ICBAS since 2017. Her research interests focus on hereditary and acquired kidney diseases, transplantation, and nephrology in systemic disorders. She is currently involved in studies such as “Protective effects of Tafamidis in ATTR nephropathy” and the multinational registry “International Database on Organ Donation and Transplantation – COVID19.” She has also contributed to several completed research projects, including the RICERCARE study on Fabry disease screening, a phase 1 clinical trial on diabetic nephropathy, and other national and international collaborative projects.
