Maria Herthelius

Maria Herthelius had her medical education at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. After completing her medical degree, she continued with Ph.D. studies in the field of urinary tract infections under the supervision of Professor Jan Winberg. She now holds a position as a senior physician at the pediatric nephrology unit at the Karolinska University Hospital. Maria is also trained as a urotherapist at the University of Gothenburg and is in charge of the urodynamic unit at the pediatric nephrology unit.

She has an academic affiliation as Associate Professor in Pediatrics at the Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology (CLINTEC) at Karolinska Institutet. Current research interests include bladder function, hydronephrosis, CAKUT and UTI in children with CKD and in healthy children.

 

 

Dr Herthelius has published more than 30 original articles, several book chapters and tutors Ph.D. students in pediatric nephrology. She is a member of the Swedish pediatric nephrology society, ESPN and IPNA.
