Pierre Pfirmann

Dr. Pierre Pfirmann ranked 144th in the 2014 Épreuves Classantes Nationales and pursued his DES in Nephrology at the University of Bordeaux. He complemented his specialist training with university diplomas in systemic kidney diseases (Bordeaux, 2016), electrolyte disorders (Paris, 2017), and extracorporeal purification techniques (Strasbourg, 2018). In 2019, he earned both his Doctorate in Medicine, with a thesis on tuberous sclerosis complex and multidisciplinary management (mention très honorable), and his DES in Nephrology, focusing on opportunistic infections after kidney transplantation. He also completed a Master 2 in epithelial physiology and pathophysiology at Université de Paris in 2019. He passed the national hospital practitioner competition in 2023.

His professional career began as a nephrology resident at CHU Bordeaux (2014–2018). From 2019 to 2021, he worked as Chef de Clinique in the Department of Nephrology–Renal Transplantation–Dialysis and Apheresis at CHU Bordeaux, rotating through clinical nephrology and dialysis/pheresis units. He then served as Hospital Practitioner Contractuel between 2021 and 2023, dividing his activity between CHU Bordeaux, AURAD Aquitaine, and later the Clinique Mutualiste du Médoc in Lesparre. Since 2024, he has been Hospital Practitioner in a shared position between CHU Bordeaux and the Clinique Mutualiste du Médoc.

In parallel, Dr. Pfirmann has been actively engaged in medical education. He lectured in nephrology at the University of Bordeaux (2015–2018), taught clinical semiology and nephrology during his Chef de Clinique appointment (2019–2021), and contributed to the training of nephrology residents, particularly in technical skills using simulation models (2019–2023). He has also taught in the DU of Extracorporeal Circulation in Cardiac Surgery since 2021.
