Dr. Louis Lebreton is a Hospital Practitioner in Biochemistry at the University Hospital of Bordeaux, where he specializes in constitutional genetic testing. He graduated as a Doctor of Pharmacy from the Faculty of Pharmacy in Bordeaux (2019/2020) and completed the DES in Medical Biology with a focus on molecular genetics in 2020. He also holds the European Master of Genetics from Université Paris Diderot/Institut Pasteur (2017/2018) and several interuniversity diplomas, including one in acquired chromosomal pathologies. Since January 2021, he has been accredited to perform medical genetic analyses in molecular genetics under French public health regulations (Article L.1131-3).
After his medical biology residency with placements in molecular genetics at Bordeaux University Hospital and in constitutional oncogenetics at Institut Bergonié, he became Assistant Hospitalier in Biochemistry (2020–2022), then Hospital Practitioner Contractuel (2022–2023), and has been full Hospital Practitioner since July 2023. In his current role, Dr. Lebreton oversees genetic testing for rare diseases and pharmacogenetics, implements new NGS-based diagnostic panels, and adapts laboratory IT systems and workflows.
He is actively involved in multidisciplinary meetings (RCPs) at both local and national levels, covering obesity, metabolic diseases, hemochromatosis, dyslipidemias, and rare genetic disorders. He is also a member of national and regional expert networks, including RNPGx for pharmacogenetics. Additionally, he contributes to laboratory accreditation processes under ISO 15189, particularly in quality management and documentation systems.
