Bert Bammens

Bert Bammens, MD, PhD (°1974). received the degree of Medical Doctor from KU Leuven, Belgium, in 1999. In 2005 he finished his PhD traineeship with the public defense of his doctoral thesis entitled “The protein-bound solute p-cresol - Generation, elimination and clinical implications in patients with chronic kidney disease”. He is currently working as full-time senior academic staff member of the Department of Nephrology, Dialysis and Renal Transplantation at the University Hospitals Leuven. He teaches renal physiology and pathophysiology as part-time professor at the Nephrology & Renal Transplantation Research Group, Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Transplantation, Faculty of Medicine of KU Leuven, Belgium.

His scientific points of interest are cystic kidney diseases, renal replacement therapy with focus on home therapies, and mechanisms of cardiovascular disease in chronic kidney diseased patients.
