Martine Besouw is a consultant pediatric nephrologist in the University Medical Center Groningen (The Netherlands) since 2017, with a special interest in tubulopathies and rare genetic renal diseases. After finishing her medicine study at the Radboud University Nijmegen (The Netherlands) she moved to Leuven (Belgium) for her training in general pediatrics. During that period, she also completed her PhD "Cysteamine treatment for cystinosis: implications beyond cystine depletion". She subsequently followed her training in pediatric nephrology in Ghent (Belgium) and in Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children in London (United Kingdom).
