Ewout Hoorn is a Nephrologist and Professor of Nephrology at the Division of Nephrology and Transplantation, Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He received his MD and PhD degrees from the Erasmus University Rotterdam and completed his clinical training at the Erasmus Medical Center. He received his research training also at Erasmus MC and internationally at the University of Toronto (2001), National Institutes of Health (2003-2004), and Oregon Health and Science University (2010). His clinical and research interests include kidney tubular transport and the relationship with human disease, including fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base disorders, inherited kidney disease (specifically tubulopathies), chronic kidney disease, and hypertension. He is the coordinating PI of the Rotterdam Kidney Lab (www.RotterdamKidneyLab.com). Dr. Hoorn serves as board member in the Genes & Kidney Working Group of the European Renal Association and in the Dutch Federation of Nephrology.
