Dr. Eleni Kapsia is a senior Consultant Nephrologist at the Department of Nephrology and Renal Transplantation at Laiko General Hospital of Athens since 2017. She received her M.D. in 2005 at the Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In 2012 she was appointed a Master of Science degree in Molecular and Applied Physiology at the Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In 2015 she was board certified in Nephrology. Since 2017 she is working on her PhD thesis on lupus nephritis at the Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Her research interests include glomerular diseases, kidney transplantation and clinical nephrology. She has authored or co-authored personal communications in national and international conferences as well as publications in international journals with recognized scientific importance. Her current h-index is 8. She co-authored book chapters included in online and university medical books. She has also attended a large number of national and international conferences where she has also participated as an invited speaker.
She has served as sub-investigator in international clinical trials in the field of diabetic kidney disease, glomerular diseases and Fabry disease. She actively participates in undergraduate and postgraduate educational programs of the Medical Schools of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Democritus University of Thrace and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Her clinical work focuses on primary and secondary glomerular diseases, Fabry disease and kidney transplantation. She is also involved in pediatric kidney transplantation and in the transition of pediatric patients to adult care.
Finally, she is a member of the Hellenic Society of Nephrology, the Hellenic Society of Organ Transplantation, the European Renal Association, the European Society for Organ Transplantation and the European Society for Paediatric Nephrology.
