Yolanda Calzada Banos

After completing my degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Barcelona, I specialized in Pediatrics and its Specific Areas (2009-2013) at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu. I received training in Pediatric Intensive Care at the same center, where I developed care and teaching activities (2013 - 2016). Since July 2015 I combined this position with that of Assistant Physician in the Children's Nephrology Service, to which I have been dedicated exclusively since 2017.
 

I have specialized in the management of children and adolescents with acute kidney damage and in intensive nephrology, of patients with advanced chronic kidney disease and, very especially, in Pediatric Kidney Transplantation being the referent nephrologist of this area in the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu. Since September 2020 I have also worked as Care Coordinator and referral physician of Nephrology Hospitalization. I have participated as a teacher in specialized courses on Pediatric Nephrology, Therapeutic Apheresis and Pediatric Renal Transplantation, as well as being a professor of the Master in Pediatric Nephrology at the University of Oviedo, Master in Pediatric Nephrology at the University of Barcelona, Master in Pediatric Nephrology at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, and Master in Advanced Medical Skills - Renal Transplantation at the Universitat de Barcelona, being in the latter the director of the subject of Pediatric Renal Transplantation. I am a member of working groups and scientific committees such as Prometeo 2 Project (aimed at Renal Transplantation and organized by the Spanish Society of Transplantation), as well as the Advisory Committee of the Catalan Transplant Organization (OCATT). I have participated in the elaboration of interdisciplinary consensus guidelines of the Departament de Salut de la Generalitat de Catalunya on chronic kidney disease. I have participated as principal investigator or subinvestigator in clinical trials in the field of renal transplantation.
