The Centre for Rare Renal Diseases at the Hospital of the Vanvitelli University (Naples) is composed by the Adult Nephrology-Dialysis Unit and the Pediatric Nephrology Unit of the Department of Pediatrics. The hospital serves a large part of the population of the Campania region with a large network of satellite centres (mainly haemodialysis units and peripheral hospitals) according to the hub and spoke model. The patients are assisted all along the evolution of the renal failure, from the pre-dialysis to the replacement techniques at the ESRD. Finally, we are leading centre for the South part of Italy for renal rare diseases particularly for tubulopathies and ciliopathies. Patients physiological characterisation associated to fast and high throughput gene screening through NGS allow us a complete in house phenotypization of the patients with rare diseases. This clinical activity matches with an intense research basic activity on experimental model of disease. All this features together make our centre attractive for many patients with rare renal disease. | ||||||||
